Opening Letter

September 2001

Dear PSP Division Member,

It's that time of year when we ask you please to identify your major publishing accomplishments from December 2000 through November 2001. At the February 2002 annual meeting in Washington, AAP's Professional/Scholarly Publishing Division will again recognize excellence and innovation in professional, scholarly, and reference publishing-- print and electronic-- by making awards in more than thirty subject areas. The deadline to submit entries is Wednesday, October 31, 2001. If your entry will be published in November, you may submit it up until December 7, 2001.  You may either prepay by check or ask us to charge your fees to your corporate credit card.

Here are some features of the February 2002 program:

  • The Awards Ceremony will be held at a luncheon on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 in Washington DC
  • The authors or editors of five winning titles will be showcased in brief video interviews shown at the Awards Ceremony
  • A full AAP publicity campaign will include ads listing winners in the spring issues of Library Journal, Choice, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and other industry publications
  • The AAP and PSP Website will feature a color photo of the R.R. Hawkins Award Grand Prize Winner
  • Winners will be featured in selected electronic bookseller sites
  • And there's no change in last year's fee of $65 per title!

Please designate a senior person (why not yourself!) to coordinate entries from your company. Please route the guidelines and entry forms to the appropriate people and make as many photocopies as you need.

If you have any questions, please call the PSP Division at (212) 255-0200, Ext. 226. In our commitment to quality publishing we are together, and I thank you for supporting the efforts of PSP. Remember, your company must be a member of AAP's PSP Division to enter.

Sincerely,

Karen Day
