Aries Systems Corporation was founded in 1986 and began serving the needs of the Scientific, Technical, and Medical (STM) market with the successful release of the Knowledge Finder® search engine. Knowledge Finder was one of the first search engines to implement natural language and relevance-ranking capabilities, and since its release has been widely adopted by publishers, libraries and individual medical professionals.
In 1999 Aries released DocuRights®, a patented content security and digital rights management technology (CS/DRM) that is used by publishers to securely market their content on the Internet. DocuRights is available with content from leading STM publishers.
As a result of its relationship with STM publishers, the company identified that the Internet provided an ideal mechanism for improving the speed of the peer review process and reducing editorial and production costs. Aries has successfully completed the development of Editorial Manager®, a web-based system for online manuscript submission and tracking. Aries continues to enhance the offering based on feedback from users and customers.
Editorial Manager has been tested, evaluated, and adopted by many leading STM publishers including Elsevier Science, Kluwer Academic, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins as well as individual professional associations.
