STM (science/technical/medical) publishers today are faced with the challenge of adding value to web content in order to distinguish themselves from competitors. One way is to make the math "live" using MathML, the XML language for mathematics recommended by the W3C. This will allow readers to bring math on the web into MathML-savvy applications, such as Mathematica and Maple. Design Science offers several useful tools for working with MathML: WebEQ for editing MathML, MathType for producing MS Word documents containing math and converting them to HTML+MathML, and our newest product, MathPlayer, a free downloadable MathML display engine for Internet Explorer.
