A wide-ranging distance learning pilot project through which the Defense Department to enhance on-the-job performance and provide other web- based learning opportunities for U.S. military personnel. The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative is a collaborative effort undertaken by the federal government, the private sector, and the educational community to establish a common framework for delivering learning tools and content on a global basis and to serve as a forum for cooperative research, development and assessment of new learning technology prototypes.
